March 1, 1948 - July 23, 2016

On July 23, 2016, Paul Lewis passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was 68. Paul was born March 1, 1948 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Joe and Beatrice (Bobby) Lewis. He moved with his family to Springfield, Oregon in the summer of 1963, while a teenager, and he graduated from Springfield High School in 1966. He then attended the University of Oregon, where he met his wife, Donna. They married July 22, 1972. In 1987, Paul began his volunteer career with the Springfield Police Department. He founded the Lock-Out Crime Project and provided an invaluable service to the community, performing home security inspections and upgrades free to those in need. He retired in 2013. Paul was an expert photographer, more often seen behind the camera than in front of it. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, disappearing into the woods for weeks at a time every autumn. He was loyal to his Oregon Ducks and watched every football and basketball game as it aired. He loved his quarter horses and his beagles. He often brought a dog with him in the back of his truck when he picked up the kids from school. Paul is survived by his three children, Jacob (wife Franki), Morgan, and Treva (husband Curtis Rochambeau); his two grandsons, Tyler and Sid; and his sister, Sylvia Arney. His wife, Donna, preceded him in death in 2006. -

Paul served on the Board of Directors for the Crime Prevention Association of Oregon for many years.
